This is a privacy policy for the PICOS Website (www.picos-project.eu). The PICOS Website falls under the responsibility of the PICOS consortium. The portal is concerned with the dissemination and exchange of information about the PICOS research project. It is not concerned with commercial transactions or with the exchange of data for marketing purposes.

Information Collection and Use

All information collected from the user by the PICOS Website will be processed by the PICOS consortium. The data will be used for customizing the services. The PICOS consortium will not sell or rent the data to third parties. The personal data will be stored as long as it is necessary for provision of the service.

Use of Facebook social plugins.
This site uses social plugins (“plugins”) from the social network facebook.com, which are operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). These plugins are indicated by a Facebook logo. When you access this website (www.picos-project.eu), your browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook
servers. The content of the plugin is transferred by Facebook directly to your browser, which then integrates it into the website. Integration of the plugin causes Facebook to receive the information that you have accessed on the corresponding page of the PICOS Website. If you are logged in with Facebook, it will be able to assign your visit to your Facebook account. Please note that an exchange of this information already takes place when you visit our Website, regardless of whether you interact with the plugin or not. If you interact with the plugins, such as by pressing the “Like” button, the corresponding
information is sent directly to Facebook by your browser and saved there. You can find information on the purpose and extent of data acquisition as well as how the data is processed further and used by Facebook, together with your rights and optional settings to protect your private sphere, in the Facebook data protection notes (http://www.facebook.com/policy.php).
If you do not want Facebook to gather data about you via our Internet presence, you must log out of Facebook before visiting the PICOS website. 

 

Third Party Data Processing

Our web site is located on a server provided by jweiland.net GmbH (Echterdinger Straße 57 - Geb. 9, 70794 Filderstadt-Bernhausen, Germany, Tel.: +49 (800) 8976326). The jweiland.net GmbH has the technical possibility to inspect the data stored on the server. It is handling the logging procedure (see below). The jweiland.net GmbH assures, not to provide the data to other parties (cf. http://www.jweiland.net).

 

Registration

In order to receive an account for the PICOS Website, users have to complete a registration form. During registration a user is required to provide a username and a password of his/her own choice in addition to an email address. In case the PICOS Website administrator needs to contact the user (e.g. in case the password is lost) the email address is used. We will not give the email address away to any third parties or expose it anywhere. It is optional for the user to provide his/her title, company, address, city, country, postal code, telephone number, language and homepage. This data will be used for the representation to the partners in the PICOS consortium.

 

Contact form

The web site provides a web-contact form to contact the PICOS consortium. The user is only required to provide the message. It is optional for the user to provide his/her name and email address. These data will only used for internal revise by the PICOS consortium and providing an answer to the user if wanted. These messages will not be provided to third parties. It is also possible for the user to get in contact with the PICOS consortium using the email address provided at the bottom of this page.

 

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file written to a user’s hard drive. The cookies set by this web site do not contain any personal information about users. They only contain a Session-ID and an expiring date. This is necessary to detect that a user who is logged in. At the end of the connection it will be deleted. If a user sets up his browser to reject the cookie, he or she may still use the site although functionality might be impaired.

 

Advertising

The PICOS Website does not collaborate with a third party that serves ads to this site.

This Web Site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the PICOS consortium is not responsible for the contents and the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of these third party sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Website.

 

Correcting / Updating Personal Information

The user has the right at every time to request information about the stored personal data. He has the unrestricted right of erasure, updating and correction of the stored personal data. This can e.g. be done by using our contact form.

 

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Website so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under which circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
